JellyNYC (site still not launched, just that weird Flash placeholder that bugs me out for some reason) debuts their new "Midnight Special" tonight at Mo' Pitkins with two great bands doing acoustic performances. JELLYNYC presents THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL Starting this Friday, December 30, JELLYNYC presents THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL; a new late night, sexy, and intimate acoustic night at Jimmy Fallon's new hot spot, Mo' Pitkins. Bands will perform in a similar setting as MTV Unplugged, creating an intimate connection with their audience that goes beyond the possibilities of a regular live show. This is a seated show that will be recorded. We look forward to sharing this special night with you. The Midnight Special will be a bi-weekly series.

When there was still a little skepticism of how great they were, Nirvana boldly decided to perform a radically different set of their songs on MTV Unplugged. The perception of the band was elevated to another level, and insured an emotionally powerful musical memory for generations. Performing their material in such a context gave the already powerful songs another interesting identity, and raised the bar as to just how dimensional an artist or band has to be to be considered beyond ordinary--in Nirvana's case legendary.
