03:00 PM - All the cool kids

50 favorite free mp3s from indie bands over at Stereogum today. MiG's "Sleeping" is in there. Rad. At some point soon I'll grab all that stuff and make my way through it. Webjay will help with that.

Last night at Death Disco, DJ Mojo played a mashup that he made of the Pixies' "Where is My Mind" and Busta Rhymes' "Woo-ha" and oddly enough it really worked - I want an mp3 of that. The Run Chico Run boys are in town and we got to witness the UK's Faeries at their drunkenest last night. Hotness. Die!Die!Die! (NZ) and The Dead Betties also tore it up properly. Mojo doesn't mess around. Bravo!

Also, congrats to Morning Theft on toughing it out and moving on to the next round of the contest they're in, despite the fact that they broke some guitar straps and were playing at what just might be the worst place in the entire city to see a rock band. Tables? 2 drink minimums? Six dollar badly poured beers? Gross. What the hell is this, a comedy club? At least the next round of this thing is at the Knitting Factory - which while not perfect (it can be a little more loud than good-sounding, sometimes) is a pretty awesome venue.
