Art Brut! Top of the Pops!
Art Brut put on one of the best rock shows I've ever seen. I'm glad I finally got to see them, and I'm glad it was at Southpaw (which, mind you, has a spectacular new downstairs bar/lounge where you can get away from the insanity of a crowded show upstairs and even watch the band projected on the wall - with very good sound too!) The band was all the fun and wild excitement that you could hope - even with the singer having the flu or whatever ailment is actually keeping him down - whatever it is it didn't stop him from bounding into the crowd right on top of us. When he made his way back to the stage, he seemed to have acquired a few mysterious stickers (see photo above.) Interesting, no?
Point is, go see Art Brut. You will enjoy it (though you might not enjoy some of the crowd - there were some real jackasses near us tonight who were really pushing it...) Their rock extravaganza just might even inspire a few people to start bands (as they claim to want to.)
