In a surprising very non-loud-rock-music moment for me, I've been particularly taken by the sweet sounds on the new KRS comp, The Sound the Hare Heard. I've noticed that a few music blogs have been reviewing it and posting tracks lately (Caffeine Headache has links to a number of mp3s and blog writeups) and the offical release is today (I didn't even know I had this a month early! Oops). But anyway, go out and buy this, if for no other reason than that the Laura Veirs track, "Cast a Hook in Me" is unbelievably good. Other moments on the record (with tracks from such precious buzzy mcbuzzenstein types as Sufjan Stevens, Wooden Wand, Death Vessel, Colin Meloy, and Simone White - her track is another big winner) aren't quite as impressive but the stuff that works really works. Boom.
