11:15 AM - Happy Birthsday!

The celebrations started early! In case you weren't aware, today is the birthday of two very awesome people. One is Dave, the fine fellow wearing my band's shirt who many know as the awesome guitar shredder in the Unsacred Hearts. The other is Mary, who is being shy and hiding from the camera in the picture above. She is known for being from Maine, liking bunnies, and doing fantastic things with words. Happy birthday to both of you!

So yes, celebrating. Last night the Hearts were playing the Friction show at Sin-e so we went to that. There was free Sparks. Mary and I (and most of our friends) had never had it before, but heck it was free. We definitely took advantage of that and sucked down way more of the disgusting syrupy beverage than we otherwise would have. At least the next two nights will involve classier drinks - mostly featuring vodka if the birthday girl gets her way, of course.

If you are looking for entertainment tonight - you can go see the Two Man Gentlemen Band at Pete's Candy Store in Brooklyn (Dave will be there celebrating his birthday so you can buy him some whiskey - though I rather enjoy the mojitos there) or El Jezel and (BYP#1 alums) Cholo at the Knitting Factory Old Office.

Oh! This just in. Mary has a story on Canadian bands you should know about up on asap (some sort of Associated Press offshoot). Get touchy feely with some fine bands, including Run Chico Run, who really need to come back to NY soon. I'm always happy to make room on my living room floor for those guys. Coincidentally another band of Canadians, Apples Apples, will be crashing here next week.
