Sorry for the lack of, well, anything here. Since I've been back from Maine it's been a nonstop cycle of packing, working, editing photos, packing, figuring out moving logistics, working, photos, packing, etc. Also things have been buzzing about in the MiG camp with a slew of upcoming shows that are happening across the country and just how (if?) we are going to get to them. Lots of craziness and I'm not entirely sure just how to get everything done but it will probably all work out somehow. This weekend you've got plenty of opportunities to get your groove on, whatever your particular breed of groove might be. Tonight in NYC: Demander @ Lit Lounge. Bonus: Need something totally awesome and new to listen to? Chicago's Bound Stems are what you need. Their new record, Appreciation Night, is on out September 19th on Flameshovel (which is quickly becoming one of my favorite indie labels - right along with Arts and Crafts, Kanine, Theory 8, and of course Serious Business - who have a new website, yay!). From their ep, The Logic of Building the Body Plan... Also: Bound Stems on Myspace. You can hear two tracks from the new record there.
Saturday in Brooklyn: The Deli Magazine issue 7 launch @ Northsix: A Place to Bury Strangers, The Jealous Girlfriends, Shwervon!, and more.
(also) Saturday in Brooklyn: BAPLAB @ 3rd War with the Landau Orchestra, Stars Like Fleas, Mon.key.pod, Helios, and about a bazillion more musicians and artists.
Saturday in Philly: Big Art Show! Man in Gray, Mossyrock, and more bands and lots of art! @ Lazertown.
Sunday in Brooklyn: Jellynyc/the Tripwire sponsored Pool Party with Pretty Girls Make Graves, Jason Lytle (of Grandaddy), The Bon Savants @ Mcarren Pool in Williamsburg.
Bound Stems - "Crimes and Follies"
Bound Stems - "My Kingdom for a Trundle Bed"
