Well, they've certainly still got it. EZ Machine have been hanging out off the radar for a few months, apparently practicing, polishing their keytars, writing new songs, and running down the batteries on thier LED belts. They came out the other night to play Beg Yr Pardon 6 and I think all the dancing and cameras going off during their set makes it safe to say that the people liked what they saw. The boys have really learned how to work the crowd and it's still hilarious when DJ Law School raps and when they hand off for the vocoder solos in "Jersey Electric." It doesn't look like they have anything coming up but keep an eye on their site and myspace for when you can get your chance to see them. Cassettes Won't Listen were a bit of a surprise hit to me at this show. I liked the Pavement cover that I'd heard, but wasn't sure what to expect from the live show. Luckily it was more than just a guy with a sampler - he incorporated keyboards and guitars and turntables into his act - all of it very well orchestrated. He even brought some friends up to join him on a few songs, including Bisc1 (pictured above) who wowed the audience with some crazy rapping. Yup, two electro-heavy bands with some rap in one show. Crazy, I know. Cassettes Won't Listen are playing next Wednesday (August 23rd) at Friction (presented by Crackers United and KEXP) at Sin-e.
