11:01 AM - Subinev Holiday Party: El Jezel

This isn't a new drawing of El Jezel - it's from back in May. I don't think there's any need for a full introduction to the band as you probably know by know they are one of my favorite locals and now very good friends.

Thier album Elements of Being Put Together was a hugely ambitious debut, especially for a band that hasn't gotten the chance to get out on the road very much, but it plays like something from an accomplished act - which isnt' to say they aren't, since they've been playing together for years. They've been at work on something new (they won't say exactly what it is) but word is it they'll have it out early in 2007. Something else to look forward to in the new year!

See El Jezel tonight at the Subinev Holiday Party at Union Hall. They headline at 11pm. Those dudes standing around the globe in the front room upstairs at Union Hall are not dictators planning their next conquest, just writers picking exotic settings for their next book.
