12:07 PM - self-promo: so we start a record label.

As of today (well, yesterday, but we were planning for today) The Mayan Empire Recording Empire exists. Our motto? "It's about bringing people together, one digital EP at a time."

It really is - our first project involved introducing Gabriel Miller-Phillips and Alina Simone, asking them to write songs about the place they both grew up in (Massachussetts), and then sending them out on tour together. The result is Get Going, a four-song digital ep, featuring two tracks from each of them, and available now on itunes, emusic, Napster, and most digital music services. The official album and tour info page can be found here, and you can stream the first two tracks on Myspace.

Press people and anybody interested in a review, let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

As for the future of The Mayan Empire Recording Empire... we'll just have to wait and see. For now, check out the album and go see Gabe and Alina on their one week tour of New England (landing at Pianos here in NYC on Sunday, February 25th - the day after my birthday!)
