08:56 AM - Ruined Music party tonight: The Shondes

This morning on the train it dawned on me that I might talk about The Shondes more if I had more than just three songs from their demo to listen to. I posted about them a while back, but don't let that make you think I haven't been keeping an eye on them. Their tour schedule has been full (and continues to be!) but luckily when I offered it, they had room on their crowded calendar to play a show tonight.

Reminiscent of recently-disbanded favorites Sleater-Kinney, The Shondes play punky, upbeat songs with the added unique flavor of a hyperactive violin, bringing out some strong classical sounds that are pretty rare in this sort of rock music.

The Shondes - "The Mother And The Colony"

The Shondes join (other Robotinev alums) Beat Radio and the Unsacred Hearts at the Ruined Music One Year Anniversary Party at the Delancey tonight (details on Going.com)! They're on first, but so is the free PBR (7:30-8:30) and special combo rock show / rooftop BBQ ticket.
