I don't usually do contests but I like what Brandon over at LICpop has going on with the concert series he's been booking at The Creek and The Cave in Long Island City, Queens. Bands that have played these shows already in the short history of LICpop include a number of familiar names: (many you may have read about here on Subinev or seen play at a Beg Yr. Pardon or Neon Lights show) Air Waves, Awesome Color, AChris Bathgate, Beat the Devil, Creaky Boards, The Hard Lessons, The Muggabears, Please Dept., The Shamblers, Slasher Risk, Tigers and Monkeys, and The Wowz. This week's show features yet another stellar blog-buzz-worthy lineup, with Ann Arbor, Michigan's Great Lakes Myth Society joining local favorites Beat Radio (as well as Chris Bathgate - fresh off a European tour with Saturday Looks Good To Me - I Am A Bolt of Lightning, and Tom Drake. While Great Lakes Myth Society are in town they will also be playing at Union Hall (Saturday, June 16th) and filming for an episode of Fearless TV! The band has been racking up the national attention lately, with the song "HEY DAYS" getting some play from KCRW's Nic Harcout on The Morning Becomes Eclectic. That's always a good sign of things to come. Want to check out the show and get to know Great Lakes Myth Society a little better? Email glmscontest@subinev.com with your name, email address, and phone number to enter to win a pair of tickets to the show and a copy of their new cd, Compass Rose Bouquet (which isn't out yet!). I'll pick one winner at random by noon on the day of the show - Friday, June 15th at the Creek and the Cave in Long Island City (10-93 Jackson Ave.) - and contact them directly. Tickets and cd will be waiting at the venue for the lucky winner.
